Which child braces and other orthodontic treatments are available?

Montclair Orthodontics provides the following child braces options:

Traditional metal braces

Traditional braces use metal brackets and wires to shift your child’s teeth into an ideal position over time. 

Clear braces

Clarity™ clear braces at Montclair Orthodontics are just as effective as traditional metal braces but are made of translucent materials that are much less noticeable.

Mini-diamond braces

Smaller than traditional metal braces, mini-diamond braces are an excellent option for kids. They’re comfortable and highly effective at producing a flawless smile, without being bulky.

Lingual braces

Generally geared more to older children, teenagers, and adults, lingual braces are similar to traditional braces. However, Dr. Watts bonds metal brackets to the back of the teeth, rather than the front. 

Self-ligating braces

Damon braces (self-ligating braces) are metal braces that use a built-in system to secure the archwire in place instead of elastic bands.

Headgear

If your child has a complex dental concern and braces aren’t enough to correct the problem, Montclair Orthodontics offers headgear. It’s a device worn partially outside of the mouth, often attached to a strap around the head or neck that secures the device in place.

Palatal expanders

A palatal expander is a device placed inside of your child’s upper arch, gradually expanding the jawbone over time to correct a poorly aligned bite or create extra space in a child’s mouth.

Retainers

After completing orthodontic treatment, Dr. Watts designs a retainer that your child wears to keep their teeth in their new position long-term.
